Today we ran the lessons that we prepared last night. These went well and we got lots of good feedback. Overall the lessons were fun to deliver and none of us really had any serious problems. Chris and I had a slight issue with talking too much and delivering too much information in one go; apparently this is common when you’re trying to deliver a lesson in a pair as you both want to say stuff and sometimes you say too much…

After the lessons we shot some video of us doing various aspects of the Central Theme, simple parallel turns and plough parallel. We analysed these later in the lecture and picked up on several areas for improvement. We also shot some video of short turns and slightly larger turns and again went through them in the lecture and had areas for improvement pointed out. We finished with a bit of off-piste and some bumps, rather large bumps in places. This was good fun and it was nice to do some skiing which challenged us a bit as we’d spent most of the day on the nursery slopes.

Tomorrow we go “beyond” the Central Theme, and Julian will start to analyse and fix our skiing so that we can raise our own skiing level to the required standard. This should, I expect, involve much more ’normal’ skiing…

The two other groups finished their trainee instructor course today and have all been given their ratings and details of the things that they need to work on. Most people seem pleased, though some now know that they have a lot of work ahead of them. We get our assessments on Sunday evening; I think we’ll all be happier once we know the numbers…
